Ashwini Kappattanavar

Ashwini is passionate about preserving traditional Indian painting styles like Gond, Pichwai, Kalamkari, Madhubani, and Ganjifa, having learned from master artists. As the workshop head at a Mumbai art studio, she's led workshops at French and Japanese schools, airports, and museums. She's also skilled in Malaysian Batik, Lippon, Tie and Dye, and is integrating traditional painting patterns into fabric. Additionally, she excels in knife paintings and floral designs and has collaborated with fashion brands.

Her notable exhibitions include:

Meet our artists

Shri Kapoor Chand Khayam

He is a Gond tribal artist and specialises in Gond Art. His family boasts of reputed Gond artists such as Smt. Durgabai Vyam who is the recipient of Padmashree award.

Having worked in an Art studio at Mumbai, he has worked for apparel fashion brands. He also has mastered Malaysian Batik, Lippon,
Bhil painting , Tie and dye, Godna Painting, Gond Tribal wooden art works and in making Gond tribal area  animals using paper mesh.

He has worked as a Gond Artist in the following reputed art  Museums of India:

  • Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya(Also referred to as National Museum of Human kind) at Bhopal and Mysore
  • Delhi Craft Museum( National Craft Museum and Hastkala Academy)
  • Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal
  • Sanskritika Kendra, Nagpur

These museums have honoured Shri Kapoorchand with certificates and appreciation letters.  

About their work:

At present both Ashwini Kappattanavar and Kapoor Chand Khayam are working partners of M/s. Tradtrend Art Studio. They are working on capturing folklore, mythological stories and cultural heritage of India in the paintings, fabrics, garments, curtains, purses etc with a blend of traditional painting styles of India and with elegant use of floral designs. Both of them have rich work experience of conducting workshops on traditional Indian Art forms such Madhubani, kalamkari, Pattachitra, Pichwai, Ganjeefa, Gond, Godna, Bhil, Worli, Mata Ni Pachedi etc. They also conduct workshops on Malaysian Batik, silk paining,  Lippon Art Work, weaving,
Macrame, Dot mandala, Ganapati idol making, water colouring, knife painting,  handmade paper making, Tie and Dye etc.

They are presently engaged in fabric painting on articles such as purses, trays, diaries, shoes, bags, and apparels such as saree, dupattas, tops, shirts, kurtis, scarfs,
blazers and bandi (Modi Jackets).
