Gond Story of Dog Temple
Adorned with intricate patterns of GOND Tribal painting style, this painting depicts a folklore of GOND tribe. As per this folklore, poor man borrowed some money from the king and pledged his beloved dog as a security. When the dog had helped the king in locating the stolen jewelry, the pleased king released the dog and asked it to go back to its master. However, on arrival of the dog, the master has mistaken that the dog has deserted the king before he could repay his debt and hence gave a heavy blow to the dog resulting into its instant death. Realising his mistake, the master has built a temple in the memory of the dog.
