Narasimha Avatar

Adorned with intricate patterns of GOND Tribal painting style, this painting depicts the folklore of GOND tribe relating to the incarnation of Lord Vishnu in the form of ‘Narasimha’ ( Half Man and half lion ). The demon 'Hiranyakashyapu' emboldened by the boon received from Lord Brahma starts troubling the devotees of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu takes the form of Narasimha and kills the demon. As per the folklore, the anger of Narasimha was not subsiding even after killing the demon. Hence, ' Prahlada ' , the devotee of Lord Vishnu poured the paste of Chandan ( Sandalwood) to calm down ‘Narasimha’.
