Story of Narmada River

Adorned with intricate patterns of GOND Tribal painting style, this painting depicts connection between the origin of Narmada river and the kal koot poison consumed by lord Shiva during the time of 'samudra manthan.' As per the folklore prevalent in the Gond tribe , when lord Shiva consumed the kal koot poison to save the world, his neck produced lot of sweat and out of this sweat, the Narmada river was born at Amar kantak in the Maikel mountain ranges of Madhya Pradesh.
